ACRYLIC ON CANVAS
I did this painting when I was 16 years old, this is a special painting because it was the 3rd that I did in acrylic on canvas. And my third painting at all.
Besides, this painting is special because when I did it, I was defining my art style, and those years were so amazing; I had that teenager rebel energy mixed with a lot of curiosity, desires of being a great artist, hormonal changes and a lot of things that I had to learn. I remember that my school was so bad in arts... There was not interest for the artistic areas and I was a bad student in many of the others subjects.
I remember a lot of drawings that I did while my classmates were learning chemestry, physics and math. I used to draw album covers of Iron Maiden, Metallica, Mago de Oz, Rhapsody (of fire) and a lot of new illustrations based in the art line of those covers.
The members of my family were worried about me, I was spending my time without art classes and the grades in school were really bad. So they decided to support me in art and they paid me a course of painting.
In those times, I was very focused in being a plastic artist..there was a lot of people who were excellent in arts surrounding me. And I was not good enough to compete against them. So I did two paintings learning the basics about the use of materials, and learning color theory and art composition while I saw with a lot of envy their progress, I was feeling stuck.
This painting is one of the most special that I did on those years, because when I decided to created it, I learned the importance of having an internal locus control (not just in art) and the importance of that internal locus in the identity and style of an artist (and person).
We cannot see the other people as competence in art, because art is not a "sports competition" or a delight understood only for intellectuals and moralists, a lot less a tool or weapon for social engineering designed for "Flat-Earthers" of political ideologies and their interests...
Art is the way as the individual expresses his ideas, preservs his consciousness, and says what sometimes words can not, Using creativity, intelligence, innovation and talent.
